Having been a collector of knives and other weapons from about the age of 5, I went on to study martial arts and the history of weapons and their construction. Growing up on action movies and comic books, my taste in weapons tends to be more toward the exotic in design. In my 20's I made a few fixed blade knives and now in my 30's I finally have time and a little shop where I can work on some of my original designs. Being a new maker, I'm still learning and refining the skills needed to create these objects in the highest quality I can. My interest are mostly in Switchblades, Out~The~Front Knives, Forearm Weapons, and fantasy weapons made real. My knives are first drawn out on grid paper, then designed in 3D in Solidworks. This gives me a digital model file of each seperate part. At this point I'll make a prototype and take notes while testing and refining. The materials I use are as follow: Blades & Frames: ATS-34, O1, Titanium, 440C Handle: Micarta, Hardwoods, Bone, Horn, any exotic handle material I can get my hands on. |
